Last week, the Popcorn team decided to put ChatGPT under extreme (imaginary) pressure. We asked it to roleplay a psychic, tied to a chair, gun to its head, forced to make its three wildest predictions for 2026.

The third prediction it gave us?The one that made us all stop scrolling and sit up a little straighter?


That 2026 will be the year AI governance gets serious and a global showdown begins.

By 2026, our AI psychic predicts that regulators, governments, and major model providers will lock horns over what counts as high-risk AI.
